Maxi Cavanna will still play for Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie in the next season. It is going to be the Argentine’s second year in the Jurassic Army.
– Maxi Cavanna is a very good player and person. He is a great professional and it is a pleasure to work and cooperate with him – Igor Kolaković praises Argentine setter. – Last season, like the whole team, he had his ups and downs in the second part of the season. The first part of the season he played extraordinarily and that was the reason for our excellent performance. He was slowed down by occasional illnesses and a knee problem, so he didn’t even have a good training rhythm. I expect a lot more from him next season – our head coach adds.
Cavanna is the first Jurassic Knight from Argentina. He came to Zawiercie in 2020 from the Italian Gas Sales Piacenza. In his first season in Poland, he played in 31 matches: 29 in PlusLiga and 2 in the Polish Cup. He did not show up on the court only once. It was in the away game of the regular season with Jastrzębski Węgiel.
– I am very happy that I can continue my adventure in this project. And I really wish we could fight to get a medal, be in the top three, maybe even make it to the final. Also to play in the Polish Cup again, because it was a very positive experience. To qualify for European cups. It would be a dream come true for both the club and me, and last season we weren’t good enough. We know that when we return to training in August, the goal will be clear and we will strive to achieve it next year – Maxi Cavanna says.
In the 2020-21 season, Maxi Cavanna scored 38 points. He did very well in the block. He recorded 17 point blocks, but he had 166 ball touches in the block and 46 rebounds, which gave him the second place among the Jurassic Knights in both rankings. In these elements, only Flávio Gualberto was ahead of him. Maxi Cavanna got the MVP award three times. It was during the away matches with Indykpol AZS Olsztyn and MKS Będzin, as well as the home game against GKS Katowice.
– Maxi showed at the beginning of last season how great his potential is. We hope that in the second year in our club he will present even more magic – Kryspin Baran, the President of the Board of Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, adds.
